Latin America, Mexico, ca. late 19th century CE. An elegantly hand-carved and hand-painted santo depicting N. S. de los Remedios, showing the Virgin Mary dressed in her traditional blue and gold robes and detailed with a floral pattern in red, gold, and white hues, holding/presenting the Baby Jesus who is painted in white and gold leaf, the holy pair hovering atop a crescent moon. Both Virgin and Child appear to have inlaid glass eyes. Size: 11" H (27.9 cm)
