Description
Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 250 to 540 CE. A polychrome flared round bottomed kero with extremely thin walls that present an intricately painted iconographic program. The uppermost register includes fourteen profiled trophy heads painted in tan and black on a white ground. The central register features two elaborately delineated monsters, hand painted in red, black and tan on a white ground. Beneath this is a band of continuous red zigzag motifs outlined in black against a spotted white ground. The bottom presents a rather minimalist crossed linear design in black outlined red against a white and tan ground. Size: 5.125" at rim x 5.125" H (13 cm x 13 cm)
