This is a very striking antique portrait of a young boy. As you can see, this piece is a hand-painted or colored photograph on milk glass aka an Opalotype. The subject is a very handsome and sweet looking child in a painted blue shirt against a brown painted background. There are notations on the back of the glass, along with a date of 4/30/29? I'm guessing this is 1929. This lovely piece, which measures approximately 3 1/2" by 2 3/4," is housed in a very nice oval golden tone frame (under glass) inside a fitted velvet case. The hinged (leather?) case measures approximately 5 1/4" by 4 1/4;" the case does clasp closed firmly, but there is wear/cracking to the leather as shown. I hope you will agree that there is just something about this eye-catching and engaging portrait that merits putting it on display in your home.
