Item Details
Description
Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Jaina Island, ca. 500 to 700 CE. A fine mold-made terracotta whistle in the form of a dancer, facing front with arms gesturing toward the right, wearing a magnificent animorphic mask and grand headdress, pectoral, and elaborate costume, the detailing perhaps indicative of the animal's lively coat, and a loin cloth. His open mouth indicating that he is most likely chanting or singing as well. Remains of white pigment on red surface. Size: 6.625" H (16.8 cm)
