Description
Luristan, modern day Iran, 1000 to 600 BCE. This is a Type III inlaid dagger as specified by Medvedskaya (1983). It is a bronze dagger with a thin, folded-over area for inlaying some kind of perishable material on the handle. The blade is short and has a very slight ridge. This style of dagger was popular for a long period of time and across a variety of kingdoms. Size: 9.75" L x 1" W (24.8 cm x 2.5 cm).
Provenance: Ex-Estate of John Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo was one of the largest collectors of ancient weapons in the US with a collection that spanned all cultures, all ages.
