Exactly as shown in listing scan(s). From the "Great Commanders Series of uniform volumes published by Appleton's after the Civil War. "The author, Alfred Thayer Mahan (1840-1914) was a United States Navy officer, geostrategist, and educator----most famous for his book: "The Influence of Sea Power upon History." A complete life of Farragut, beginning with family and early years, to his later years and death, followed by a chapter on his character. Admiral David Farragut (1801-1870) was the senior officer of the U.S. Navy during the American Civil War, most remembered for his qoute "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead" during his assualt & capture of Mobile Bay."
