Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. Very rare and quite amusing pottery whistle in the form of the front half of a Colima dog. Dog is in the "flying dog" pose with front legs outstretched, snout acting as the mouthpiece to the whistle, alert ears and 2 pitch holes on the back. An added element we have never seen before is a stirrup form of suspension loop. A fabulously rare and desirable piece! Size: 3.875" L (9.8 cm)
