TWO RARE DOUCAI FOOTED BOWLS
Qianlong mark and of the period
Each raised on a flared stem foot decorated with swags of budding florets under an elegant stiff leaf band of alternating underglaze blue and yellow enamel outlined in gred and coral red on a field of chrysanthemums and mallow flowers linked by branches of leaves and yellow buds, the slightly flared rim accented by a banding of vines and blossoms, the interior decorated with a medallion of fronted butterflies tuandie surrounded by a continuous band of interlocking vines accented by peony and lotus blossoms, all rendered in doucai enamels, the six-character Qianlong mark on the interior of the foot.

This combination of the footed stem cup shape and doucai enamels is very rare. See another example of Qianlong mark and of the period sold at China Guardian, Beijing on May 19th, 2021, lot 3318, and a related example with a Yongzheng six character mark and of the period, in the collection of the Mt. Holyoke College Art Museum, a gift of Samuella Crosby (Class of 1880) and accessioned in 1936, with the same decoration and measurements, accession MH1936.7.Q.A.

Two tiny burst bubbles on the rim of one; some glaze dimples on the interior.
