Description
Pre-Columbian, Peru, Paracas, ca. 900 to 200 BCE. Large, important and incredible example of the fine skills of the early Paracas potters. Rounded olla with slightly everted rim deep brown/black lower section and rim, upper area in heavy ochre and red added pigment with two jaguars separated by three tree-like structures. The jaguars look less than ferocious with almost human-like facial expressions. A wonderful and rare example! Size: 9.5" W x 6.5" H (24.1 cm x 16.5 cm)
