[FORT LEAVENWORTH] U.S. Military Prison, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, partly-printed document dated 1883, document for items received at Fort Leavenworth Military Prison, signed in ink by 2nd Lieut. W.P. Evans, 19th Infantry. Also appears the name of Capt. William Badger, 6th Infantry, who signs in print. BADGER was the son of a New Hampshire Governor. Wm. Badger fought in the Civil War. After that war, he was commissioned a lieutenant, assigned to the 6th Regiment of U.S. Infantry. Often stationed in Indian territory, he was later brevetted a captain for \"gallant and meritorious services during the war.\" For a while he served under Gen. George A. Custer in Dakota. 8 x 10-1/2 in. VG Scarce!.
