A rare Revolutionary War era relic, a metal 'bar shot' projectile fired from cannons often in naval engagements to disable the masts of enemy ships. The 13 in. projectile consists of two 4 in. diameter metal spheres connected by a square bar. Heavily oxidizes and in 'dug' condition. A tag accompanying the item written by our consignor shows the item was recovered from Fort Washington on Manhattan Island in the 1950s.
