Description
Greece, ca. 6th to 3rd century BCE. This is a group of terracotta heads, all of which appear to be women; they are fragmentary, probably from small figures. These figures were used as religious offerings and, after the 4th century BCE, also used for decoration. These heads may be from figures of goddesses or characters such as the nurse from the Greek theatre tradition. Size of largest: 1.75" W x 4.5" H (4.4 cm x 11.4 cm)
