Egyptian Silver Plaque Amulet of Sekhmet & Anhur (Onuris), c. 900-600 B.C., Standing figures of Sekhmet the lioness with sun disk and Uraeus over her head, on her right stands Anhur. Loop at the back for suspension.
In early Egyptian mythology, Anhur was originally a god of war and slayer of the enemies. Due to his position as a war god, he was patron of the ancient Egyptian army, and the personification of royal warriors. The Greeks equated Anhur to their god of war, Ares.
