LEOPOLD LAMBERT FRENCH BISQUE AUTOMATON “LADY WITH LORGNETTE AND FAN”. Marks: Tete Jumeau 1 (head); L.B. (key); shop label on bottom. 18” H. Standing upon a green velvet covered wooden platform is a bisque head lady with bisque front shoulderplate, brown paperweight eyes, painted lashes, feathered brows, closed mouth, accented lips, pierced ears, brown mohair wig over cork pate, formed shapely torso and legs, bisque forearms, wearing green silk and lace-trimmed gown, holds fan in right hand and fancily-crafted lorgnette in left hand. Has original L.B. metal key and activator. As the music begins to play, she turns head side-to-side and to-and-fro as she raises and lowers the lorgnette and gently moves the fan. Commentary: Fine quality bisque and decoration, lovely face, excellent movements and musical tones, circa 1885; costuming not original.
