Description
Pre-Columbian, northern Peru, Moche, ca 300 to 500 CE. One of the more attractive canchero vessels (AKA corn Popper) we have handled. Large water dipper in saucer form with small circular opening, long figural handle with the head of a warrior in relief painted in tan and brick-red pigment. On the reverse we have an unhappy looking owl with wings spread hovering above the desert cacti, rocks and dirt in three areas of the scene. Delightful! Size: 10.75" L x 7" W (27.3 cm x 17.8 cm)
