Description

A Pair of Civil War Photographs, one a tintype, one an ambrotype, in half embossed frames with gilt metal liners, Tintype- H.- 2 5/8 in., W.- 2 1/8 in.

Condition

Condition consistent with age and use. Tintype- Approximately nine flea-sized grey discolorations are seen around the figure's face. Two hairline scratches, one vertical and one horizontal, are noted across the image. Scattered light foxing is observed throughout. Ambrotype- A hairline diagonal crack is noted in the lower left with several flea-sized losses in the emulsion. A minute chip is noted in the bottom edge. Dust accretion is observed on the interior of the glass. A small crack is seen in the outermost metal frame. Scattered dents are noted throughout the metal frames. Moderate wear is seen throughout the case and both examples are lacking the other half of the case. A fascinating pair. ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD "AS IS."
