Everyone knows the Mercedes 300 SEL 6.3, introduced in 1968, it was the then world's fastest series sedan, a gentleman express, which may well be considered the forefather of all power-saloons. Never before have 1.8 tons been moved at 225 km/h and when the then still young company AMG in Spa also had success in racing with a red touring car, the “the 6.3“ became a must-have for all successful people.
A 300 SEL 6.3 in such a good condition is rarely offered, simply because going fast in an agile sedan such as this is too much fun, so going easy on it was no option. But in countries with strict speed limits like the U.S.A., 6.3's are no highway racers but representational cars that wait for occasional trips in heated garages. 78,700 miles in around 45 years make an average of 1,748 miles or 2,813 kilometers a year, which leaves enough time for loving care. A look under the hood is astonishing: everything is in an unrestored original condition, but almost without traces of use – this is a 300 SEL 6.3 with perfectly executed paintwork, which must stay as it is, because the original condition is trumps!
