Description
Description: 18th century silver hilt, lion headed, English, or Continental, short sword. Sword hilt pommel of real silver, grip wrapped in green ray skin wrapped with four strands of both straight and twisted silver wire. Cross guard is finished in real silver with straight style cross guard, The blade is tapered with a double edged blade having double fullers and floral etched panel just below the ricasso on both sides. The black leather covered wooden scabbard has a silver brocade strip which covers the back seam, concealing it. The scabbard throat is adorned with a finely hand chased floral pattern and the frog button being hand engraved with an unknown design. The scabbard drag, also in real silver, is also hand engraved in a like floral design as found upon the scabbard throat.

Condition
Overall condition is excellent, the blade having some carbon staining and minor rust pitting at the tip and around the area of the ricasso.
The cutting edge has a few very minor edge chips from normal use and does not take away from overall aesthetics.
