Description
Northwest coast, USA /Canada, ca. 19th century CE. Wonderful example of an early wood halibut hook. Carved wood in two parts lashed together with fine string, one side shows a fisherman with large fish against his side, other side reserved with wooden hook also lashed to wooden shaft. Superb! Size: 10.5" L x 5" W (26.7 cm x 12.7 cm).
Provenance: Ex- The estate of Paul and Louise Bernheimer, Cambridge, MA and Laguna Woods, CA - acquired before 1980
