Featuring important Asian and Ethnographic Art from the estate of Paul and Louise Bernheimer. Paul and Louise devoted their lives to collecting and dealing in antiques. Paul was scion of the family that founded the world-famous Bernheimerhaus on Lenbachplatz in Munich, Germany, in 1864. By 1900, the Bernheimers had become official purveyors to the Court of Bavaria. Their clients included members of the European aristocracy and American magnates. Louise came to antiques, and to the business, via her professional training as a costume designer. After leaving Germany in 1939, forced into exile by the Nazis, the Bernheimers re-established themselves in the States. They eventually got back into the antique business, first as The Little Box in Norton, Massachusetts, and later, in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA as Bernheimer's Antique Arts, which ran from 1963 to 1992.
