Description
Qing Dynasty, China, 1644 to 1912 CE. This is a green and red jade (nephrite) pendant in the form of a dragon who, to the modern eye, looks comically like he has his hands on his hips and is making a sarcastic comment. The dragon figure is an ancient Chinese symbol -- the earliest known are from ca. 4700 BCE. Size: 3.5" L x 1.4" W (8.9 cm x 3.6 cm).
