Northwest coast, Canada, ca. 1900. Carved wooden mother bear looking over her playful cub. The cub's nose is nestled into a jar of some form as mother looks on. Old label on belly. Rare from this period! Size: 5.625" L x 4.625" H (14.3 cm x 11.7 cm)
Provenance: from the Paul and Louise Bernheimer collection of Japanese Edo and Meiji Period Netsukes, Cambridge, MA and Laguna Woods, Ca. Acquired before 1980 and all made at least 75 years before the 1970 ivory ban.
