Description
Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Coastal Manabi Province, Bahia, ca. 100 to 500 CE. An elegant mold-made terracotta female figure from the coastal Manabi Province of ancient Ecuador. She stands with hands positioned between her voluptuous breasts and protruding perhaps pregnant belly indicating that she represents a fertility figure. Her visage projects a rather peaceful countenance with large, lines almond shaped eyes, full lips, and arched brows that resolve to her equine nose. She wears a sizeable, smooth, domed headdress and large round earspools. Perforated from ear to ear for suspension or attachment. Custom, museum quality stand. A beautiful figure of an almost ethereal nature! Size: figure alone measures 3" W x 7.5" H (7.6 cm x 19 cm); 7.75" (19.7 cm) on stand
