Item Details
Description
An Egyptian terracotta funerary cone for Merymose, New Kingdom, reign of Amenhotep III, c. 1391 – 1354 BC, of typical long and slender shape with tapered end, the face impressed three vertical registers of text reading ‘Revered one before Osiris, king’s son of Kush, Merymose.’ Well-preserved and a type known from several published examples found at sites such as Deir el-Medina and the tomb of Huy (TT40) who was the Egyptian Viceroy of Kush. L: 6 ½ in (16.7cm). Cf. Davies & Macadam no. 170; Daressy no. 113 for the type; Ex New York private collection.
