Description
A GEORGE III STERLING SILVER TEA CADDY, HALLMARKED, SILVERSMITH JOHN DENZILOE, LONDON, 1779, with an oval hinged lid centering an applied blossoming stem form handle, within conforming engraved bands of guilloche and dotted lines, above similarly engraved rims enclosing foliate swags and circular florettes suspending floral clusters, flanking a winged armorial harp beneath a keyhole, reversing to an oval blank shield over an underside with the following four hallmarks; shaped square silversmith's stamp enclosing Old English calligraphic, "JD," lion passant, crowned leopard's head, date letter, "d," and on interior of lid another lion passant, approximate total weight 11.875 troy ounces.
