Description

Amusing Rookwood Standard glaze mug featuring an imp (most likely a Palmer Cox Brownie) sitting on a tomb stone in a graveyard. Done by Grace Young in 1897, the large-eyed creature with large feet and spindly legs seems perfectly at home. Marks include the company logo, which indicates the date, shape number 587 C and the smallest Grace Young monogram (about 1/8 inch long) we have ever seen. Height 4 5/8 inches. Faint crazing.
