Edouard Léon Louis Edy-Legrand (French, 1892-1970). Oil on canvas. Pair of colorful stylized depictions of exotic birds in densely composed tropical settings. Comprises: 1.) Pair of cockatoos perched on a tree branch above a snake. 2.) Demure peacock standing among verdant fruit bearing and flowering plants while above a monkey selects a banana from a robust bunch. Both paintings are signed bottom right with the artist's monogram cypher. Both mounted in silvered wood frames. [Art: 78" x 42 1/4"; Frames: 79 3/4" x 43 3/4"]. Expertly relined. Few light abrasions and puckering at side edges, and horizontal creases with minor inpainting. Verso stretcher bar on cockatoo painting bears a J.H. Duffy & Sons-Ltd gallery label.
