Description
Entitled on front board: Rowley Historical Society First Report 1918-1920. Full title on title page reads: Rowley Historical Society List of Officers and Members, Reports, By-Laws, Records and Historical Sketches. This 8vo (6 x 8.5 inch) pamphlet in light gray card stock wraps, was printed by Henry S. Bowen, Ipswich, Ma., 1921 and has 24 numbered pages. In addition it has three tipped in photographs. And most unusually for this period they are albumen photos. The first is on the cover and shows a nice 18th century 2 & ½ story frame home in Rowley (image size is 2.4 x 4 inches). The next is a 5.8 x 3.9 inch photo of a 19th century print of the town commons, entitled View of Rowley Commons. The last photo is cdv size (2 x 3.5 inches) and of the Rowley-Powley Tea House in town. This pamphlet was the first publication of the Society.
