An interesting albumen cdv advertising the trans-Atlantic Royal mail Steamer of the Inman Line City of Paris. albumen of engraving of ship underway with reverse engraving showing plan of ‘Saloon & Cabin Plan of Inman Steamer City of Paris’ showing plan of two decks with inked date of ‘Sept. 7th, 1873’. The City of Paris steamer was built in 1865 by Tod & Macgregor for the British Inman line drive by screw propeller with sails for backup, showed that propeller driven vessels could be as fast as the older side-wheeler steamers then dominating the trans-Atlantic passenger trade. Sunk in 1885 after a collision of Malaga. An unusual advertising piece form the early Trans-Atlantic passenger trade.
