Description
Yes, we have previously sold this lamp. It's back. It is a classic Peter Gray design with the older flat band bail. It's a marker lamp from the Boston & Lowell Railroad. It has one red and one clear lens. It has a slide mount on one side for mounting on a car. It stands 14" tall (without the bail) and the sides are 6" wide. The door has a Peter Gray Boston oval hallmark. The pot is a fine rectangular model with a correct Calendar brass burner.
The Boston & Lowell was bought out by the Boston & Maine in 1889. It was operated as the "Southern Division" until the WWI reorganization of divisions. This is a very old lamp with original, aged Japan finish. This looks like black paint but it's weathering to a copperish varnish used in the 1800s. Boston & Maine Railroad Peter Gray predecessors are very hard to come by.
