Description
A very old Peter Gray manufactured single lens lamp. It has a 6†red lens and it was made for the Concord & Montreal Railroad. I think this is a marker lamp that might have been used on the back of a tender. It sits low and it has two tie down loops on the sides. It has a pin and hinge door closure. It has an old rectangular pot with a replacement burner. The pot is frozen in the frame. The reflector is intact. It has a old bail and ornate reverse curve vent area. Clearly the red pain is modern era. There is one small guide on the vent area edge that is loose. The red lens has no damage.
The Concord and Montreal Railroad was created in 1889 when the Concord Railroad merged with the Boston Concord & Montreal Railroad. The C&M only lasted a few year, in 1895 it in turn was absorbed by the Boston & Maine. There is a fine Peter Gray Maker Boston embossed logo on the bottom of the door. Sorry about the poor picture of this.
