1830 “Andrew Jackson” as President Document Signed
ANDREW JACKSON (1767-1845). Seventh President of the United States (1829–1837), a Politician and Army General who defeated the Creek Indians at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend (1814) and the British at the Battle of New Orleans (1815).
June 12, 1830-Dated, Autograph Manuscript Document Signed, “Andrew Jackson” as President of the United States, no place, one page, approximately 7” x 4.5”, Fine. Here, President Andrew Jackson pens, in full:
“James Thompson, -- Chief Clerk in the 3d. Auditors Office. -- In the absence of Peter Hagner 3d Auditor of the Treasury, you will discharge the duties of the same. - (Signed) Andrew Jackson, June 12th, 1830.”
Some paper loss at the lower horizontal fold which obscures the last few words of the text. There is some light show-through toning from an earlier tape reinforcement upon the blank verso and was also previously pasted down for prior display. Overall, in very good condition for display, with a huge, bold example of Jackson’s signature measuring 5” long.
