Description
Pre-Columbian, West Coast Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. An incredibly unusual musical instrument from ancient Mexico! Pottery with red burnished finish further enhanced with incised decorations in two areas of the body. Unlike most flutes where you blow directly into the mouthpiece, like a whistle, you blow across the opening. Three holes allows the player to change the pitch of the instrument. 5-5/8"L (14 cm).
