Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A fascinating ceramic figure depicting a pregnant woman with a hunched back. Hunchbacks make frequent appearances in the art of the shaft tomb cultures of West Mexico - it seems that they were thought of as powerful, shamanic figures. This is a really nice example of a highly popular style! Size: 1.9" W x 4.75" H (4.8 cm x 12.1 cm); 5.25" H (13.3 cm) on included custom stand.
