Description
The female pottery attendant figure was excavated in a tomb outside of present day Xian, known as Changan, the capital of the Western Han Dynasty in Shaanxi Province in Central China. She stands tall and straight, her long hair carefully arranged behind her neck and she is armless. Her facial features are not so distinctive but she looks nice in profile. She is made of pottery that should have been grey, but circumstances in the tomb turned the grey pottery black. Her elongated body was once clothed and wooden hands were attached to the body, but years of burial caused their decay. This figure is dated to the Western Han Dynasty 206 BCE to CE 24. 20 inches high.
