Description
Southeast Asian, India, 18th century CE. Large wooden fabric stamp carved with twin panels of text, one top, one bottom, along with 8 central panels depicting the sun and moon, a tiger, flowers and birds. Over the 250 years since it was carved, it has developed a deep, tactile patina. A lovely example! Size: 15"H x 9"W.
Provenance: Ex-Sarkisian Gallery, Denver, CO; ex-Denver Art Museum (remains of paper label on back).
