Description
Greek, Mycenae, ca. 1300 BCE. An early and quite exceptional pottery krater. Sitting on small foot with sloping sides and twin diagonal handles, painted in deep brown decoration that might represent mountains and sea; bands of thin rule beneath the primary scene with foot and portions of handle painted as well. A beautiful example of early Greek pottery! Size: 4-1/8"H x 7-7/8" W to handles.
Provenance: Ex-Wagner collection, Cape Cod, MA, acquired in the 1960s.
