Description
Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Veracruz/Vera Cruz, ca. 100 BCE to 800 CE. This pair consists of two simple hollow ceramic figures, a male and a female. The male figure has his hands to his chest, while the female has hers at her side; both figures have detailed faces with distinctive noses and eyes. The Remojadas cultural period is famous for its figurines, who depict people from all social spectrums and have been found in a variety of archaeological contexts, including burials and middens. Size: Male measures 1" x 3" x 4"; female measures 1" x 2-1/2" x 3".
Provenance: Ex-private Mcdonald collection, Houston TX, acquired at local gallery or at auction between 1982 and 1994.

Condition
Both figures are intact,with some wearing. The female has more of a patina than the male. There is no evidence for cracking and repair.
