Description
Roman Empire, the Levant of eastern Mediterranean region, ca. 2nd to 3rd century CE. A jaw dropping double unguent of finely hand blown aqua blue glass with areas of silvery and rainbow irridescence. Artistically applied rigaree wrapping around the conjoined unguents and zigzagging along the sides of both unguents making for stunning decorative motif. The elegant single handle is also further adorned with a delicate trail-like detail created by tooling. Wealthy women in ancient Roman times would employ these pieces to contain their precious oils, perfumes, or cosmetics. Custom lucite stand. Size: vessel itself 6-1/8" (15.6 cm) x 2-1/2" (6.4 cm) at widest.
