Magna Graecia, South Italy, ca. 340 to 330 BCE. An impressive red-figure lekythos in the Paestan style, attributed to the Asteas-Python workshop. Iconographic program in applied red depicting a dancing nude youth holding large phiale with a large palmette beneath the handle. Size: 9" (22.9 cm).
Provenance: Ex-private Swiss collection; Ex-J. Kluge private collection, acquired from Royal-Athena in 1987; Ex-P. Kluge private collection, Charlottesville, Virginia.
