Description
osmanisch, 1923/28. Im Zentrum gemalte Darstellung der Valide Moschee (Valide Camii) im Stadtteil Aksaray in Istanbul. Ornamental fein emaillierter, vergoldeter Rand mit halbmondförmigen Schrift- und Floralkartuschen. Auf der vergoldeten Rückseite drei Silberstempel (darunter Kontrollstempel von 1923/28). Durchmesser 37,5 cm, Gewicht 1,6 kg.
Die Valide Moschee wurde 1871 auf Veranlassung der Gattin Sultan Mahmuts II. von dem italienischen Architekten Montani errichtet.

1923/1928. In the centre a hand-painted portrayal of the Valide Mosque (Valide Camii) in the Aksaray district of Istanbul. Fine cloisonné gilt border with crescent-shaped cartouches of inscriptions and flowers. On the gilt reverse three hallmarks (among them a control stamp from 1923/28). Diameter 37,5 cm, weight 1,6 kg.
The Vaide Mosque was built in 1871 by the Italian architect Montani at the suggestion of Sultan Mahmud II's wife.
