Description
Pre-Columbian, Central Peruvian Highlands, Ca 1400 CE. Copper ax with large flange for attachment and slightly flared blade. This was probably used for chiseling stone and in the course of its usage it developed a crack in mid-blade and was likely discarded. it has since developed a deep almost translucent patina that is simply stunning! 4-1/8"L x 4"W. Custom stand.
PROVENANCE: Ex-private Los Angeles, CA Collection, acquired in the 1980's.
