Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A fine set of axe heads that are cast from either bronze or copper. The petite copper axe head exhibits a squat socketing shaft behind a taller vertical blade, and the larger axe head features incised linear motifs and projecting spikes along the socketing shaft. Size of largest: 5.7" L x 0.8" W x 3.8" H (14.5 cm x 2 cm x 9.7 cm)
Provenance: private Everett, Massachusetts, USA collection, acquired 2018; ex-Broukal collection, United Kingdom, formed 1950s, thence by descent
