Description
Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A bronze axe head of socketing form with 4 zoomorphic heads protruding from the ovoid eye and a hook-shaped protuberance extending from the butt. The ovoid shaft hole is additionally embellished by a concave curve and folded ridge on each side. Size: 7.3" L x 1" W x 2.6" H (18.5 cm x 2.5 cm x 6.6 cm); 3.4" H (8.6 cm) on included custom stand.
