Description
Very important Bird's Eye View of Confederate Prison Pen at Salisbury NC taken in 1864. J. H. Buford's and Sons lithograph of Boston and printed by C.A. Kraus in 1886. On the bottom margin is a history of the prison by Prisoner William Bradbury Ryan of Boston MA who enlisted with the 2nd Rhode Island on 13 January 1861. He was taken prisoner by General Stuart's Cavalry near Sudley Church during the Battle of First Bull Run. What follows is a detailed history of his stay at the prison. It includes a depiction of his "residence" at the prison. Dimensions: 31" x 41"
