A Second World War model RAD Reich Labour Service female branch zink badge. Marked on the backside: J.B.u Co. for Julius Bauer and Co. below the pin. Decorated with scrolled filigree motifs surrounding the central composition with a swastika emblem over two stalks of barley. The Reich Labour Service, ReichsArbeitsDienst, RAD was a major paramilitary organization established in Nazi Germany as an agency to help mitigate the effects of unemployment on the German economy, militarize the workforce and indoctrinate it with Nazi ideology. It was the official state labor service, divided into separate sections for men and women.
