Description
A WWII Nazi German Third Reich model metal badge given to members of the 5th Don Cossack Regiment, which was the first fully Russian unit in the German Army. The badge is covered with enamel in red and white shades, and decorated with a swastika insignia on a cross mounted on crossed swords. The backside features a vertical style pinback. Marked, Munchen 9, on the backside. In October of 1941, an entire Cossack Regiment, along with all of its Officers, decided to desert the Red Army and join the German forces, which lead to the eventual creation of the 5th Don Cossack Regiment.
