Native American / First Nations, Northwest Coast United States, Alaska or Canada, Inupiaq / Inuit people, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A collection of 3 hand carved soapstone bears by different artists. The smaller pair may have been part of a larger scene as suggested by the adhesive on the foot and drilled peg hole and to the underside of the stomach. The largest is standalone piece with etched markings and numbers on the feet for the artist, but these are abraded and nearly indiscernible. While bearlike, the tail and slender weasel like body may represent a wolverine. Size of largest: 7" L x 1.25" W x 3.5" H (17.8 cm x 3.2 cm x 8.9 cm)
