Native American / First Nations, Northwestern United States, Alaska, or Canada, ca. late 20th to 21st century CE. A large soapstone carved bird, stout with a short beak and wings stretched back. Perhaps a type of auk, a small bird adapted for underwater foraging and often found in northern shores. The underside of one foot is signed with Inuktitut syllabics. Size: 6.3" L x 3" W x 8.25" H (16 cm x 7.6 cm x 21 cm)
