Description

Native American / First Nations, Northwest Coast United States, Alaska or Canada, Inupiaq / Inuit people, ca. mid-20th century CE. A delightful soapstone carving of a sled pulled by three dogs! The sled is carved from a single piece of stone, open work slats spanning the runner blades and a caribou fur hide lashed to the sled with cotton and leather cords. The dog team of 3 are carved in a trotting motion- legs striding forward, and leather harnesses are tied around their bodies. Size of sled: 9.75" L x 3.3" W (24.8 cm x 8.4 cm)
